FSA regulated Merchant Capital Plc is pleased to announce its key role in the successful £3 million fund-raising ahead of today’s AIM arrival of Byotrol Plc, a company with technology to prevent the spread of bacteria.
Merchant Capital is acting as Byotrol’s financial adviser in relation to the AIM flotation, and placed new shares with a mix of institutional and private investors.
Ahead of the placing, Merchant Capital helped Byotrol formulate its funding strategy and evaluate an offer from a private equity group as an alternative to AIM. It also advised on Byotrol’s spin-off from its former parent company, H. Marcel Guest Ltd, and on a group restructuring to consolidate the intellectual property base. Merchant Capital worked closely with Byotrol’s broker, Fiske plc, and the company’s NOMAD, Matrix Corporate Finance.
Byotrol director Stephen Falder said: “We are extremely pleased at the successful outcome of our fund-raising, and particularly delighted with the Merchant Capital team, whose expertise has been of the highest standard from the start.”
Merchant Capital CEO Peter Redmond said: “The success of the fund-raising reflects the clear commercial benefits of the technology developed by Byotrol, and we are delighted to be involved with such a successful placing. The transaction also reflects our increasing presence in the growth company capital market.”
Byotrol’s technology controls micro-organisms such as the MRSA superbug, legionella and listeria by disrupting their reproductive processes. The technology has major applications in the healthcare, food processing and industrial sectors.
The company is due to start trading on AIM today, with a market capitalisation of £8 million. The shares were placed at 23 pence each.
