Corporate Finance
Barry is a Member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, and has gained broad experience over many years in a variety of senior management roles concentrating mainly on business development, initially in technology and more recently finance.
He formed Technology Finance in 1981, around which a group of companies, the Technology Group, was created. The Group provided vendor sales-aid finance to a range of equipment sectors. At Technology Group he was responsible for sales, marketing and business development. After six successful years, Technology Group was sold to Rutland Trust Plc.
From 1991 he worked on projects involving the development and management of vendor programmes, portfolio acquisition, and specific vendor sales-aid assignments for companies including AT&T Capital Limited.
Later he focused on distressed debt working closely with non UK banks on credit card and property financing recoveries. He has advised on two management buyouts and became a significant investor in one of these, re-structuring and running the company for three years before selling out to a Finnish entity. He remained on its board until January 2007, when he joined Merchant House Group.
