The information on this website does not constitute a financial promotion, an offer to sell, the solicitation of an offer to buy or any form of professional advice.  The suitability of any investment for any prospective individual investor is neither given, intended or implied.

The structured product designers at Merchant Capital Limited do not offer investment advice and any information contained within this website should not be construed as investment, legal, tax or any other form of advice. If there is any doubt about the information on this website, or the suitability of any Plan, Merchant Capital always recommends prospective investors consult an independent financial adviser.

Some structured products offer an element of capital security on your investment, i.e. at the end of a specified term, your capital will be repaid in full provided the issuer remains solvent. All stock market related investments involve a degree of risk, as their value can go down as well as up. Some investments are known as ‘structured products’ because they change the risk and the return that can normally be expected from an investment in the stock market. To do so they invest in securities which are called derivative products because their return is linked to or “derived from” the performance of the underlying stock market security or index. The structured products which do not offer an element of capital security are called ‘capital-at-risk’ investments. They offer either enhanced income or growth prospects, whilst putting conditions on how or whether your capital will be repaid when the investment matures. However remote the likelihood of bankruptcy of an issuer might be, the risk will always exist. To reduce your risk, we suggest that structured products are used only as part of a broader portfolio and that investors diversify their structured product investments across a range of issuers. Should you require further information about structured products and capital-at-risk products please contact your independent financial adviser.  You can also visit http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk.

Information is provided by Merchant Capital Limited only on its own products & services. Potential investors considering any investment plan should ensure that they are in possession of and understand the full Plan brochure, which includes the Key Features, Terms and Conditions, Questions You May Have and relevant Risk Factors for any Plan - and should note that Merchant Capital Limited always recommends investors take independent financial advice in connection with any investment decision.

Structured investments are designed to be held until maturity, and early encashment may result in a capital loss for a significant period of the investment term, particularly as there may be charges that adversely impact the value in the early years. There may also be liquidity constraints with structured investments before the stated maturity date. Details of these are normally outlined in our brochures.

Merchant Capital Limited is authorised and regulated by the FSA and is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. However, prospective investors should understand that Plan assets (i.e. the underlying securities) will be held on their behalf and they will not have any direct legal interest in the securities or any direct rights against the issuing counterparty in the event that the issuing counterparty becomes insolvent and cannot pay its debts. Prospective investors should also be aware that under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) whilst compensation scheme rules may apply to the insolvency of Merchant Capital Limited or its administrator, FSCS rules do not normally apply if the Counterparty becomes insolvent.

As with all investments, it should be noted that past performance is not a guide to future performance and the value of investments, and any growth or income from them, may go down as well as up and is not guaranteed. It is possible to get back less than originally invested in structured investments.
